And let’s not forget Grandpa Jeon and Grandma Lisa—the ones who have all these grandkids! - The Grandkids Always Gather - The older grandkids always meet up, but they all dislike Irene because she talks too much and annoys them. However, all she really wants is to spend time with them. She always makes gifts and organizes fun activities for them. Irene is a sweet girl, and she has no idea they dislike her—until today. Grandpa Jeon decided to invite all his children—his sons and daughters—to the Jeon Mansion, one of the biggest mansions in the country. The mansion is so vast that every family member, from Grandpa Jeon himself to all the grandkids, has their own room. Whenever they gather, the grandkids stay on the upper floor, while the adults stay downstairs, and they all live together for one or two weeks. The Day Before: Irene sat at her desk in her own room, carefully making beaded bracelets for all her cousins. She had been working on them for a whole week, hoping to make them happy. She made bracelets for the boys and necklaces for the girls, attaching a handwritten card and a small gift for each of them, neatly packing everything into beautiful gift bags. Irene: “Finally! I’m done. Ugh, I’m so exhausted… But I finished all the gifts and packed my bag. Now, I need to head downstairs—I’m starving!” She went downstairs and saw her twin brothers, Rodin and Dairen. Irene: “Hey, guys! Did you pack your bags?” Rodin and Dairen: “Yeah, we did! But we’re so hungry. Can you make us some pizza, please?” Irene: “Oh, fine… I’m starving too.” She made pizza, and they ate together. Afterward, everyone gathered their bags and left for Grandpa Jeon’s mansion, where all the uncles and aunts were waiting. When they arrived, the adults stayed downstairs, while the kids went upstairs. Irene entered a large room where all her cousins had already gathered. She greeted the girls and started chatting with them. Nightfall arrived. Grandpa Jeon: “Kids! Come here!” All the cousins rushed to where Grandpa Jeon stood. Grandpa Jeon: “We’re going on a camping trip for a whole week, okay? There’s a huge hotel at the campsite, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. We’ve already packed the bags—we’ll take the little kids and go first. You guys will follow later.” Jungkook: “That sounds fun!” Dahyun (their cousin): “Yeah, it really does!” Grandpa Jeon: “Alright then! Grab your bags, lock the doors, and head out.” A little while later… The adults left for the campsite first, while the grandkids started heading out. Irene’s siblings and a few cousins had already gone. She was the last one left. Before grabbing her bags, she picked up 15 gift bags—one for each cousin. She wanted to give them out before they left. But just as she was about to hand them over, they surrounded her, trapping her in the middle. Nayeon: “Irene, where do you think you’re going, huh?” Irene: “What are you talking about? Why are you all surrounding me?” Jungkook: “Irene, I know you have a crush on me… but I don’t like you. Actually, I hate you. We all do. Got it? You talk too much and embarrass us in public. I can’t stand you.” Michael: “Yeah, do you get it now?” Tears welled up in Irene’s eyes. She looked at Jungkook in shock. She never expected this. Was she really just an annoyance to them? Angie: “Say something, you monkey! Why are you just standing there?!” Jungkook: “Just leave her alone. She finally understands that she’s nothing to us. Listen, Irene… All your siblings and cousins already left before us—that was part of our plan. And guess what? You’re not coming with us. Stay here in the mansion alone.” Irene: “What…? Jungkook, babe, are you joking or what?” Jungkook: “No, Irene. I’m not joking. You’re trash, and I hate you. I hate your creepy smile.” Irene froze at his words. "My… smile is creepy?" They all left her behind. The car pulled away. Jungkook glanced back at her—his expression a mix of regret and hatred. She had no idea what he truly felt. 🎀💞 - The Aftermath - Irene rushed to her room in the mansion, tears streaming down her face. She always did this—every time someone belittled her, she ended up hating herself even more. "I love him... Why did he do this to me? I really thought we would get married. Jungkook, I truly love you. I always have... and I always will—until the day I die. Remember that, Jungkook." She wrote these words on a letter and hid it in a secret place in her room, where no one would ever find it. Then, she called her father. Irene: “Hello, Dad. I didn't go with them. Something awful happened… I’ve decided to go to Denmark for my vacation.” Lavender: “Whoa, slow down! That’s a lot to take in at once. Why didn’t you go? What happened? And why are you suddenly traveling?” Irene: “Dad, can we talk about it tomorrow? Please? Also… don’t ask any of the grandkids why I didn’t come. They’ll just feel embarrassed about what they did.” Lavender: “Hmm… Alright. Go and relax. Is your friend Jenny going with you?” Irene: “Yes, Dad, she is.” Lavender: “That makes me feel a bit better. Call me when you get there.” Irene: “I will, Dad. Bye.” Fast forward—Irene arrived in Denmark at the house she had bought to live in with Jenny. They were both going to continue their medical studies together. Irene: “Ugh, finally! I’m exhausted.” Jenny: “Me too. But hey, don’t forget—you need to call your dad and tell him what happened.” Irene: “Oh… yeah, right.” She called her father while Jenny sat next to her, listening. Irene: “Hey, Dad.” Lavender: “Hey, sweetheart. Did you arrive safely?” Irene: “Yeah, I just got here.” Lavender: “Alright, now tell me—what’s going on? The grandkids all arrived, and everyone’s confused about why you’re not there.” Irene: “Dad… I really can’t talk about it right now. It’s disgusting. I’ll tell you later, but please don’t mention me to anyone. If they ask, just say I traveled.” Lavender: “Oh, you little troublemaker. Just tell me already.” Irene: “Dad, not now. I’ll tell you when I see you, okay?” Lavender: “Fine. Do you need anything?” Irene: “No, Dad. Goodbye.” She hung up. Jenny smacked her arm. Jenny: “Are you stupid?! Why didn’t you tell your dad?!” Irene: “I just… don’t think it’s the right time. I don’t want him to scold them.” Jenny: “Seriously, Irene? They humiliated you, and you’re worried about them getting scolded? Are you for real?!” Irene: “I don’t know, Jenny… I still can’t process everything. How about we just make some ramen and watch TV?” Jenny let out a deep sigh before giving in. Jenny: “Fine, whatever.” They headed to the kitchen. Meanwhile, back at the campsite… Jungkook sat by the fire, roasting marshmallows, his mind drifting to Irene. "I feel… weird. I don’t know why Irene still hasn’t shown up… but whatever, it’s not my problem." Three days passed at the camp, and no one noticed Irene’s absence—just like before, no one really cared about her. Jungkook, however, couldn’t stop thinking about her. As he sat staring into the fire, lost in thought, Daniel approached him. Daniel: “Hey, Jungkook. What’s up? You look completely out of it.” Jungkook: “It’s nothing. I just… feel weird inside.” Daniel: “Do you need to talk? I’m here if you do.” Jungkook: “No… I just… Ugh, I don’t know.” Daniel: “Alright, man. If you change your mind, let me know. We’re heading to the beach—wanna come swimming?” Jungkook: “No, I think I’ll just sleep.” Daniel: “Alright, whatever you say. See you later.” Jungkook: “Yeah… later.” "I hope to see you soon... I feel so empty without you. Didn’t you say you were my safe place in life? Then why did you leave? Why did you make me hate myself and everything in this world? Always remember, you’ll be my first and last love. It’s you, Jungkook. I’ve never loved anyone else, and I never will... believe me." JK THINK: I was lost in my thoughts, standing by the shore, watching the waves move back and forth. All I could think about was her. Is she okay? Did our words hurt her? She was always kind to me… why did I do that to her? Will she hate me for the rest of her life? My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by my brother, Lucas, calling me over to join them. But honestly, I didn’t even want to see their faces. Lucas: "Hey, Jeon! Why don’t you come with us? Come on!" Jungkook: "I’m tired... just leave me alone, please." Lucas: "What’s wrong? If you’re tired, go take a nap in the room." Jungkook: "No, it’s not that… I just need some time alone." Lucas: "Oh... okay, suit yourself." IRENE THINK: I feel exhausted. Everyone around me hates me… I don’t even know what I did wrong. All I ever do is try to be kind. I hate evil—I’ve never wanted to hurt anyone. Maybe things will get better… maybe… AFTER 2 DAYS Jenie and I were walking on the bridge. I felt dizzy, but I pushed the thought aside—I wasn’t sick, right? Jenie kept checking on me every now and then. We reached the middle of the bridge, where a deep river stretched endlessly below us. There was a missing part of the railing—no guardrail to protect us. And just my luck… I tripped. Before I knew it, I was falling—falling into the endless depths of the river. All I could hear was Jenie’s screams and the horrified gasps of people gathering to see what had happened. JK THINK: As I sat at the table, eating lunch with my cousins, a strange feeling crept into my chest. A sharp sting—like something terrible had just happened. I had no appetite. I felt like throwing up, or maybe… I just needed to figure out what this weird feeling was. Right now. Michael: "Jungkook, what’s up with you? You look completely out of it." Jungkook: "I don’t know… something feels off. Like… something that shouldn’t have happened, happened." Michael: "And what is it?" Jungkook: "I told you—I don’t know…" After a while, everyone got up—some of the guys went to the lounge to hang out, while the girls gathered in another area to talk. The servants continued with their work. Everyone was busy with their own conversations... until— JK THINK: It had been days since that uneasy feeling first hit me. I tried to ignore it, convincing myself it was nothing—but deep down, I knew something was wrong. And then... I got the call. I could barely process the words. "Irene... accident... river... hospital." I don’t remember how I got there. All I knew was that my heart was racing, my hands were shaking, and my world felt like it was collapsing. As I rushed into the hospital, I saw her lying there—pale, fragile, lifeless. My Irene. I walked up to her, slowly, afraid that if I touched her, she’d disappear like a fading dream. Irene, the girl I had pushed away. The girl I had hurt. And yet, she still looked as beautiful as ever. Her eyes fluttered open. She was weak, but she smiled—just a little. Irene: "You came..." Jungkook: "Of course I did. Irene, I—" She reached for my hand, silencing me. Irene: "I thought... I’d never see you again." Tears burned my eyes. "I’m so sorry, Irene. I was a fool. I—" She squeezed my hand gently. "Don’t... apologize. I never hated you, Jungkook. I could never hate you." Her words shattered me. How could she still be so kind? After everything? Jungkook: "Irene... I love you." A tear slipped down her cheek. She smiled—a real, warm smile. Irene: "I love you too... always." YEARS LATER The sound of waves filled the air as I stood on the beach, watching the ocean stretch endlessly before me. The same beach where I had once been lost in thought, drowning in regret. But now, everything was different. A familiar voice called out behind me. Irene: "Still lost in your thoughts, Jeon?" I turned around, smiling as she walked toward me—radiant as ever. I pulled her close, holding her like I’d never let go again. Jungkook: "Not anymore." She laughed softly, resting her head against my chest. And just like that, the past no longer mattered. She was here. I was here. And this time… I would never let her go. THE END. 🎀💞
